Arthritis, a painful and chronic disease that affects the joints of the body resulting in pain, inflammation and stiffness is the
bane of many people’s lives, and is seen as an inevitable fact of growing old. Despite the vast number of people who are afflicted with
this cruel health condition, to date, an effective cure still remains ever elusive and whilst there are courses of treatment such as
conventional forms of medicines to help alleviate the symptoms, these are not without their own health risks. Most commonly,
painkillers are prescribed to arthritis sufferers in order to reduce the pain and bring it to a more acceptable level, however this
approach is rather self-defeating on two levels. Many of the painkillers which are routinely prescribed to combat arthritis are codeine
based and codeine is a highly addictive substance which can lead to dependency when used for an extended period of time. This has led to
more people relying on natural pain relief and herbal remedies.
In addition, this process is facilitated by the fact that the body eventually becomes tolerant to the codeine and so this means
that a higher dosage is required to achieve the same effects. However, painkillers tend to have much more severe risks than simply the pain
relief wearing off, because they carry with them a wide range of health risks such as increased chances of strokes, heart attacks and liver
failure. Because arthritis is a chronic condition with only courses of treatment and no permanent cure, the need for herbal remedies for
arthritis to help offset these issues becomes crucial in order to effectively minimise, in so far as possible the prevailing
risks.
The most effective herbal remedies for arthritis (especially osteo) are those that contain glucosamine, which has been proven to
help stimulate the production and development of cartilage. Natural pain relief simply involves the body’s own natural defences and
processes at a highly accelerated rate. Cartilage is the body’s shock absorber, acting as a cushion between the joints thereby keeping the
bones well away from one another to avoid friction. Because arthritis causes the erosion and breakdown of this crucial fluid, herbal
remedies for arthritis that contain glucosamine should be at the top of your list.
One of the most commonly used herbal remedies for arthritis is Devils Claw, please do not be too alarmed by its rather dramatic
name! Devils claw is also one of the safest of herbal remedies for arthritis, and is used to treat a number of the different forms of the
disease including osteo, gout and rheumatoid and does so with a remarkable degree of success. Devils Claw is one of the best herbal remedy
for arthritis pain.
Sadly, a degree of caution has to be exercised when it comes to herbal remedies for arthritis because there are many unscrupulous
people who exploit peoples weakness and pain in order to make a profit and so sometimes herbal remedies for arthritis are nothing more than
quack remedies. Any herbal remedies for arthritis that claim to offer a total cure for arthritis are to be examined with some degree of
skepticism. It is also said that only surgery that can "cure" arthritis, (although this is open to debate as well). Always make sure to
consult with your doctor before taking any herbal remedies for arthritis.
